Not many people know that there is a beautiful waterfall just 35 KMs from Bangalore.

The name of this surprise attraction is Thottikallu. Thottikallu is a place near Bangalore off the Kanakapura road which is famous for a falls called Thottikallu falls more popularly known as TK falls.

You don’t really need to drive for hours to get away from the din of the Bangalore traffic. Just 35 KMs from the city, there’s a waterfalls called Thottikallu falls.

It is also known as ‘SwarnaMukhi’ water falls. SwarnaMukhi translates as ‘Golden-Faced’ de route at Kagalpura (Kaggalipura) off the Bangalore – Kanakapura road will lead to a place called Byalemaradadoddi, from where a mud road leads to the falls.

There will not be much water in summer and hence better to visit in or just after monsoon. The place is about one hour from Kempegowda Bus Terminal.

The falls is a few kms further away from the Art of Living Ashram. This venue is a great place to for trekking and mountain hiking and just to a spend your day away from hustle and bustle of the city.

It is preferable that you go to this place in two wheelers because the roads become very narrow when you are almost nearing the place.

There is also a parking charge for 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers just outside the shrine, you have to park your vehicle and then start walking towards the falls. There is nothing much to eat around this place.

It is better that you pack your own food and come as well as bring your own water bottle.

The place also has a small temple called Muneeshwara Swamy Temple. This is a small temple under a huge tree. There aren’t many visitors to this place and hence it is calm and peaceful.

You have to trek a short distance to reach the waterfalls. There are plenty of rocks in the water and some of them are steep, smooth and slippery.

Places to see : Thottikallu Waterfalls, Muneeshwara Swamy Temple 
Best time to visit : During or just after the monsoon season. There is no water in the waterfalls when there is no rain.

Important Tips: 

  • Carry food and water. You won’t find much near the waterfalls.
  • Make sure to take boat ride inside the lake, you will get a chance to notice different varieties of flora and fauna.
