There are very few things in life that can match the joy of a beautiful road trip! The diverse landscape of India presents a wonderful opportunity to explore the unexplored! Desert roads, Himalayan Peaks, Coastal drives, Forest routes – India has it all.
Here are some the best road trip routes in India! I’ve traveled through all the roads mentioned below and would love to go on them again and again!
1. Joshimath to Badrinath, Uttarakhand
Road Tripping in India provides you the unique advantage of experiencing different terrains. The road trip from Joshimath to Badrinath takes you through rugged Himalayan terrain.
The views will leave you breathless. Despite the immense exertion due to the journey around the hills, the view of the valley won’t fail to mesmerize you.
The river Alaknanda flows in the valley, and snow melts every morning to form waterfalls and freezes in the evening again. The 40 km journey is one of the most memorable journey of my life.
2. Madurai to Kodaikanal ,Tamil Nadu
This is one road trip that will leave you speechless. The natural beauty of this route is just too overwhelming.
The coconut trees along the road further lead to a hill-road densely covered by trees as Kodaikanal approaches. The trees are so dense, sunlight hardly touches the road surface.
3. Pamban Bridge, Tamil Nadu
The Pamban Bridge used to be the longest sea bridge in India till 2010(when the Bandra-Worli Sea Link took over the honours). It is a 2.06 KM long bridge which connects Rameswaram with mainland India.
It has both a road bridge and a railway bridge over the Bay of Bengal. While driving on this road, the blue waters of the sea will leave you speechless.
For a moment you’ll wonder India is so much much more beautiful than what you thought.
4. Somnath to Diu, Gujarat
The cash crop farms enclosed by coconut trees are simply beautiful. Along the road local fruits and vegetables are sold. And as we approach Diu, the simplicity of the surrounding water is enough to take your breath away!
5. Somnath to Dwarka, Gujarat
The road connecting the two temple towns is an absolute beauty, with windmills and beaches enroute. It is a real pleasure to drive on the roads that snake along the beaches!
